Valsalva works.
Frenzel works better.
Pinch, blow, done. You've never had a reason to question it
You learned to equalize in your Open Water course. Pinch, blow, done. It worked, so that was the end of the conversation, and nobody has brought it up since.
Which means you've been doing it the same way for every dive since, and you've got nothing to compare it to.

Buoyancy gets a specialty. Navigation gets a specialty. Given how much rides on it, equalization deserves the same.
It stacks on every single dive. Most specialties are additive. Wreck diving unlocks wrecks. Night diving unlocks night dives. Each one adds something new you can do, now and then.
Smooth Equalization is different. It doesn't add a new kind of dive; it improves every dive you already do. Every descent, every trip, for as long as you dive.
Frenzel vs Valsalva. Same job, two very different ways of getting it done.
Valsalva is a blunt instrument. You blow and hope the pressure gets through. It comes from your lungs, using your breathing muscles.
Frenzel moves a small pocket of air that's already sitting right next to your ears, using your tongue and throat.
One tries to break the door down; the other just turns the key.

The Equalization wall
Most divers think ear trouble is a beginner thing, or that they're the only one struggling. The research says otherwise.

Most cases are mild and never reported. That's why nobody talks about it. But when researchers actually look, it's everywhere.
81% of 1,881 divers surveyed had experienced middle ear barotrauma (Finland, 2021)
63% of divers surveyed through SSI reported the same (Saudi Arabia, 2024)
On a 6-day trip in the Red Sea, everyone started with clear ears. By the end, 36% had barotrauma, and it got worse the more days they dived (2016)
So save your ears, learn good equalization!
The ocean is for diving and having fun, not for struggling through your dives and ruining your ears. Master Frenzel on land, so you can have amazing dives and keep your ears safe.
What’s inside this specialty?
Frenzel First focuses on the fundamentals: Just the drills you need to build yourself a quality Frenzel technique.
We like to keep things simple and work with just 3 chapters:
Understanding, Feeling, and Doing.
First: we cover the theory briefly so you get the concept without studying.
Second: short tutorials to help you find and feel the muscles involved.
Third: the main course: 6 essential exercises.
The Complete Standard.
We believe that all the answers to your journey should be in your hands from day one. That's why we’ve included Diagnostic Videos directly under every exercise.
We show you exactly what’s going wrong so you can troubleshoot yourself and keep moving.
As simple as 1-2-3.
Most divers who try to learn Frenzel do it backwards; they find a video, copy what they see, and hope something clicks.
Then they try a harder drill before the basics are in, and build habits that take long to undo.
We've laid the essential drills out in a straight line: Understanding → Feeling → Doing.
A clear order: each drill builds on the one before it, so you always know what's next.
Only what matters: six essential exercises. Nothing added to pad the course out.
Built right the first time: learn the motor pattern properly so you're not unlearning it later.
Building a motor skill like Frenzel takes more than watching a perfect demo. It shows you where you're going, not why you're not getting there.
That's normally what you'd pay a private coach for, someone who can look at what you're doing and name the problem. We've built that into the course instead.
Diagnostic videos under every exercise: the common ways it goes wrong, what's causing it, and how to fix it.
Catch it early: compare what you're doing against the standard before a bad habit sets.
Know when you've got it: each fix comes with a physical cue, so you're not left wondering.
The main tutorials show the goal, but these videos break down the "why" behind the struggle. You use them as a reference to spot your own errors and apply the fix immediately.
✅ 1 theory chapter: The physics of Frenzel, simplified and done right.
✅ 4 tutorials: Drills to help you feel, isolate, and warm up the muscles.
✅ 5 main exercises: The essential drills for a solid, reliable technique.
✅ 15+ diagnostic videos: Walkthroughs of every common mistake and exactly how to fix them.
✅ X-Ray visuals: Custom animations that show exactly how the "hidden" internal muscles move.
✅ Online platform: Mobile-responsive access, so you can practice and troubleshoot wherever you are.
✅ 6 months' access: On course materials.
Less than you'd think. No pool session to book, no equipment to buy.
Your own anatomy: two fingers and a nose. No gadgets, no tools.
A mirror or your phone camera: how you check your own form.
Your phone or laptop: to work through the platform, wherever you are.
Every other specialty wants a weekend, a boat, an instructor and a few hundred euros. Book the days off, get to the site, hope the weather holds.
This one wants a mirror and a few minutes a day, at home, whenever it suits you.
The easiest specialty you'll ever add. But improves your every dive experience!
Borrowed from a freediving, where equalization decides everything
This course started in freediving, and there's a simple reason for that.
With a scuba tank on your back, Valsalva can do the job. You've got air to spare, you're usually upright, and if your ears are slow, you take another second and try again. It works, so it rarely gets a second thought.
Freedivers don't have that room. Equalization is its own discipline there. It gets studied, drilled, coached, and argued over, because without it the dive doesn't happen.
So we built a version especially for scuba divers.
What our students are saying
I struggled with Frenzel and couldn’t get past 5 meters. This course finally broke it down in a way that made sense.

With Pieter, I found the sweet spot between precision and play. His nerdy joy for the details made complex things feel natural. I felt seen, supported, and inspired to dive deeper.

If any of these sound familiar. This course
is for you!
You want a step-by-step way to build comfortable equalization
You want to train the technique properly instead of guessing
Your ears block, and the dive stops there
You get down, but it takes three or four goes every try
You descend slower than everyone else because of your ears
Nobody ever taught you what your muscles are actually doing
Frenzel is a word you've heard but never learned, and you'd like to
You want proper control instead of hoping it works
Your training hub: accessible anywhere.
Everything in one place.
This is an online training method, not a random video dump. It breaks Frenzel into 5-minute practices so you can practice frequently to maximize progress whenever, wherever.
Full HD demonstration videos: High-quality visuals with onscreen Do-along guides on the side of every exercise. You watch, you mimic, you learn.
The checklist: Every exercise comes with a clear step-by-step guide. It shows you exactly what to look for and how to check your own form right then and there
See what's happening behind closed doors: Custom animations and designs show you the muscle movements that normally stay hidden. Stop guessing what’s happening in the dark.
